Currently the silicone orthoses is one of the most demanded treatments in patients of all ages.
These are therapeutic elements that allow achieving palliative, corrective and even substitutive objectives in the treatment of various foot pathologies.
In our Podomédic Centers workshop we make orthoses adapted to each case, even for children.
In the children these orthoses completely correct the alteration of the fingers, when being in age of formation of the bones and articulations.
They are devices, manually made with a silicone, that provide a therapeutic solution.

Silicone is especially indicated for the manufacture of orthesis to protect, correct, alleviate and slow the advance of pathologies such as clawtoes, helomas (corns) by pressure, side deviations from fingers, etc.
The ortesis of silicone are:
- Hydrofobes, water does not deteriorate them
- Anti-adherents and elastics, making them comfortable
- Fungi and microorganism resistant
- Hypoallergenic and biocompatible, so they do not cause allergic reactions or tissue damage
- Depending on the patient's needs, they may be hard, soft and extra soft
The making of the silicone orthose is entirely crafty, shaped on the foot while still soft in order to obtain a correct position of the fingers.
During the solidification process it is important to make walk the patient. In this way, we ensure the functionality of the orthose, as well as its adaptability to shoes.
Bearing in mind the therapeutic objectives that we have to achieve, we will make palliative orthoses, corrective orthoses or substitute orthoses.
- Palliative orthoses: It prevents the friction or pressure exerted anywhere in the foot and the appearance of hardness. In addition, it relieves hyperkeratosis and protects areas prone to micro-traustatisms.
- Corrective orthoses: It corrects deformities such as clawtoes, hammertoes , infraductus toes, or supraductus toes.
- Substitute orthoses: Replaces part or some segment of the foot and resets its normal function. For example, in cases of finger amputation.

For adults:
The main objective is to correct and/or protect a specific region of the foot, taking up as little space as possible.
For children:
The objective is to align the correct position of the fingers, allowing the deformity to be definitively corrected.

- They must be placed properly and manipulated on their wider side
- Ortheses must be used with stockings or socks to ensure better fastening
- Before up on the shoes, it is necessary to check, with the touch, if the ortheses are in the right position
- Use talcum powder to facilitate the application of orthoses
- It is convenient to remove the orthoses at bedtime in order to avoid macerations
- They must be carefully washed with soap
- It is appropriate to carry out a periodic review, at six months, to check its efficiency and state
