Podomédic Centers are specially designed to carry out a comprehensive study of the foot and provide maximum medical-podiatry support to people who practice sports.

To achieve this, we have equipped ourselves with the latest and most effective technological advances that allow us to prevent, diagnose and treat any type of pathology that may occur.

We consider it very important not only to treat the condition, but also to look for the triggering cause since small structural alterations of the musculoskeletal system can cause injuries that, in addition to altering the athlete's performance, can become chronic.

The sports podiatry It is the specialty that studies foot conditions in athletes and treats them on a case-by-case basis. Its objective is to reduce injuries and maximize the performance of the athlete.

In most sports or sporting activities, the feet are the most affected elements, which is why sports podiatry helps keep them in optimal condition.

Sports podiatry should not be a remedy for an injury, but rather an injury prevention technique. and foot conditions, as well as alterations in the runner's anatomy.

In sports podiatry, the most common injuries we find are:

  • Plantar fasciitis. Inflammation of the “arch muscle” or plantar fascia that is characterized by pain on the bottom of the heel (the origin of the fascia) and along the long arch of the foot.
  • Aquilles tendinitis. Inflammation of Achilles tendon, causing pain in the back of the hell.
  • Ankle sprain Due to the strain of the lateral ligaments of the ankle. This injury tends to become chronic, especially when healing times are not respected.
  • Sesamoiditis. Inflammation of one or two of the small bones located under the joint between the big toe and the first long bone (metatarsal).

In Podomedic Centers we follow the following protocol:

  • We carry out a rigorous clinic history emphasizing the data of interest related to the patient (habits, discomfort, type of footwear used, type of sport practiced, etc.).
  • We made a download scan. with the patient on a stretcher. In this position, we analyze the articular state of all the lower extremity, as well as the balance of the various muscular chains, the possible dissimilarities (differentiate length of one leg from another) and proceed to the palpation of possible painful points, in order to determine the provenance of pathology.
  • Later we carry out a standing examination both in statics and in dynamics. Static examination allows diagnosing the presence of possible asymmetries and irregular deviations that can alter the behavior of the musculoskeletal system. At the same time we carry out the study of the plantar footprint.

Dynamic exploration is the most important one, as it serves us to know the behavior of the moving foot. Through detailed analysis of the march we verify how the foot interacts with the soil and we can determine the burdens or forces that the lower extremity must face during sporting practice.

There are no miracle solutions for most sports injuries, but it is essential to prevent their appearance and treat them immediately when they appear.

Our Podomedic Centers are able to detect and diagnose any alteration of the locomotive apparatus and establish proper treatment.

Two points are of vital importance:

  1. Treatment using orthotics or plantar supports (templates). These must reconcile two basic qualities: the cushioning effect and the corrective factor. Being its primary objective to establish the proper harmony and functionality of the athlete's ankles and feet during sports practice. Our customized orthopedic insoles for each foot meet all these requirements. They are made in such a way that they work together with the skin and the muscles of the foot, adapting to them and providing extra support when movement requires it and, in general, adapting to the dynamics of the foot at each moment of its physical activity.

  1. Choosing a sports shoe in accordance with the activity being practiced. If the insole and footwear are not suitable, the risk of injury is very high. With our sports insoles, the shoe integrates perfectly with the athlete's foot and acts as if it were one more part of his body, responding to each change and / or movement produced during the different phases of the tread.

It is impossible to find in the market a standard shoe and a template, which brings together all these characteristics, since each foot has its morphology.
